Calling her his “second mother,” he celebrates her vibrant spirit, cherishing their memories while emphasizing that her life and legacy should always be remembered and celebrated.

The late legendary singer Asha Bhosle is not just a voice; she has been an emotion for many. Rendering more than 12,000 songs over the years, Asha Bhosle has touched countless hearts for one reason or another.

Sachin Pilgaonkar reveals his mother participated with Asha Bhosle in song recordings

Sachin Pilgaonkar, who has been a part of cinema for more than five decades, has a special memory to share about her. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Sachin shared, “Remembering Ashatai, she was hugely talented, blessed, yet so down to earth. As a child, I first met her at a recording when I was with my mother. Ashatai met her very fondly, and later I came to know that my mother used to participate with her in song recordings.

“Later, I had the privilege of her singing for my films. I never knew I would get the opportunity to sing with her at her concerts in India and abroad. She always treated me as her son, and I called her my second mother. We shared so many moments together. I can only visualise her as a lively personality and that’s the reason she will never die for me,” Sachin relayed.“Remember, her life should only be celebrated. Asha Bhosle passes away at 92 due to mutiple organ failure

Asha Bhosle lent her voice to several songs in films featuring Sachin Pilgaonkar, especially during the 1970s and 80s, collaborating frequently with celebrated music directors like R. D. Burman and Ravindra Jain. Some of the notable tracks from this association include “O Jhumke Wali” from Balika Badhu (1976), “Tere Liye Maine Thami Hai” from Zid (1976), and “Saat Pheron Ke” from Ghar Dwaar (1980s). Asha Bhosle breathed her last on April 12, 2026, at the age of 92 due to multiple organ failure. She was cremated with full state honour.
