Akshay Kumar recalls how his father made him wrestle professionals as a kid: ‘Mere ghar ke culture mein ye tha’ |


Reflecting on his youthful days, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar opened up about his father’s wrestling legacy, which propelled him into the world of combat sports alongside seasoned fighters. He credits this early training as integral to his success in films. Kumar passionately advised mothers and fathers to champion their kids’ dreams, stressing the significance of encouragement after formal schooling concludes.

Famed actor Akshay Kumar comes from a humble background. In a recent interview, the superstar recalled some of his favorite childhood memories with his father and opened up about how they would spend their time. He revealed that one peculiar thing his father did when he was a kid was to make him wrestle professional wrestlers.

While talking to IANS, the ‘Bhoot Bangla’ actor opened up about his childhood and how his father would often make him wrestle actual, professionally trained wrestlers. Talking about it, he revealed that discussions of wrestling and kushti were common in his home. He added, “Mere ghar ke culture mein ye tha, mere father jo the wrestler the, toh mere culture mein tha martial arts ki baat karna, kushti ki baat karna, wrestling karna. Mere pitaji professional wrestlers ko jaante the, mujhe ladvaate the aur aaj wohi mere kaam mein aaya” (It was in my family culture, my father was a wrestler, so it was in my culture to talk about martial arts, to talk about wrestling, to wrestle. My father knew professional wrestlers; he made me fight, and today that has come in handy for me.)

Akshay Kumar advises parents on how they should hone their children’s talents

Drawing from his own experiences, the ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ host shared advice for parents: they should look for things their child enjoys and work on them. The ‘Khiladi’ actor further added that “Pata kariye ki aapka beta kis cheez mein interest rakhta hai. Kabhi kabhi hota hai koi padhai-likhai mein interested nahi hai, kisi aur cheez mein interest hai. Koshish kariye usko itna samajhiye ki beta ek education poori kar le, uske baad main tere saath hi hoon. Usko lekin chodiye mat jo woh chahta hai karna” (Find out what your child is interested in. Sometimes it happens that someone is not interested in studies, but is interested in something else. Try to make them understand that ‘First you complete your education, after that I will be with you.’ But don’t push them and do whatever they want.”On the work front, Akshay Kumar will next appear in the horror-comedy film, ‘Bhoot Bangla.’ The film will hit theatres on April 12, and will also star Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, Jisshu Sengupta, Manoj Joshi, Mithila Palkar, Asrani, Rajesh Sharma, and Wamiqa Gabbi.
